Ta'ergang Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Northeast Hubei border to Henan. The Ta'ergang Fm was named by the Party of Regional Geological Survey, Hubei Bureau of Geology in 197. The type section is in Guojiasi, Huanpi County, Hubei Province. It is upper formation (4/4) within the Hong'an Gr.

Lithology and Thickness
Lower part of the formation is dominated by grey, silver-grey or grey-yellow, yellow green sericite quartz schist, muscovite (sericite) albite quartz schist, and dark-green actinolite quartz schist intercalated with sericite schist. Middle part is microcline-albite leuco-leptite (obscure term for fine-grained feldspar-quartz gneiss, usually interpreted as metavolcanics). Upper part is light flesh-red thin-platy leuco-leptite, sericite (muscovite) quartz schist, albite-epidote actinolite schist, sericite quartz schist and phyllite; with a top of phyllite and chert. The thickness varies from 1175 m to over 1600 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It is in conformable contact with the underlying Qijiaoshan Fm.
Upper contact
It has an unconformable contact with Yaolinghe Gr. (Neoproterozoic)
Regional extent
Northeast Hubei border to Henan. It is distributed in Huangpi and Guangji counties, Hubei Province. Around Guangji, the glaucophane schist with some high-pressure metamorphic minerals, such as phengite and stilpnomelane occur in muscovite albite quartz schist.
